MoMUNtum Essay Competition
Hello future professionals!

At moMUNtum we are dedicated to getting more people interested and involved in International Relations who have or have not learnt about it before. No matter what your passion is, it plays a role in shaping the international landscape we all live in. In this essay, we ask you to think about how a field that you are interested in relates to the international community, and how you could see it continuing to effect the international landscape in the future.

Prompt:
​If you have spent a day on Earth, congrats! You’re part of the international community. No matter if you want to be a doctor, lawyer, singer, or politician, you can contribute and uplift the community we call Earth. In a 2-3 page, MLA formatted essay, describe how a career you are interested in relates to the international community and affects international relations. Write about its history, current events, and how you think this career will impact the international community in the future.

The winner will be chosen after deliberation by a panel of UNC Chapel Hill Undergraduate Students in collaboration with UNC Graduate Students and Faculty.

More about JFAC
​
The Journal of Foreign Affairs at Carolina is the premier undergraduate international relations journal of the University of North Carolina. It is a research journal that publishes undergraduate research on global affairs and current events. This student-run journal partners with the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Carolina International Relations Association to publish biannual issues showcasing student research and student photography from around the world. This interdisciplinary journal accepts submissions relating to global affairs and a wide variety of subjects including, but not limited to, economics, religion, anthropology, international relations, language, and regional studies.

JFAC is home to a blog and a journal. The blog, which this essay will be posted in, has short articles written by students at UNC Chapel Hill on current issues and historical topics. The journal is a periodical published once in the spring and once in the fall, and it is made up of long form research articles of various international topics. All issues are available on their website and we encourage you to read some of their articles to gain inspiration for your own essay and to explore more of the wonderful topic of IR!
